NAPA Wine Bar & Kitchen is a fine wining & dining institution in Shanghai. The owner Philippe graduated from Ecole h?telière de Lausanne. Philippe’s dream has always been to have a perfect venue where both the best of wine and western food can be offered. In 2007, NAPA Wine Bar & Kitchen was established in Shanghai. Last year, NAPA moved to South Bund 22, and turned this heritage building with over 100 years of history into a modern & fashionable meeting point for celebrities & business elites.
The main tones of NAPA Wine Bar & Kitchen are black, white and red, which gives a European flavor. The glass wall and mirror enhance the space of the restaurant. During the dining time, guests can not only enjoy world-class wines but also the spectacular view of the Bund and emerge among the charming atmosphere in the surrounding bar area.
Chef Martin was born and educated in Copenhagen, Danemark. Martin’s first Michelin star restaurant experience came in 2006, from a French restaurant called Pierre Andre in Copenhagen. A milestone in Chef Martin Bentzen’s carrier came in 2007, when he joined Restaurant Noma as Head Chef responsible for banquets and events. Martin worked closely with world class famous chef Mr. Rene Redzepi, from whom he benefited a lot for cooking of the dishes and research & development of new menus. In meantime, Martin has established his own cooking philosophy: making dishes shine through simplicity.
Martin introduced a brand new menu for guests, upon his arrival in Shanghai. The first impression of Martin’s dishes are always simple, but perfectly executed and very pleasing. He is very much fond of Shanghai, and looking forward to including some local quality ingredients into his cooking as well.
Apart from the world class cuisine, the cellar is another significant feature of NAPA Wine Bar & Kitchen. The strict temperature control system creates a wonderful environment for storing wine. Guests can not only taste the wines, but also buy their favorite wines, which can be stored into special wine lockers in the underground cellar.
The brand new NAPA Wine Bar & Kitchen restaurant makes guests truly excited; When the night lights of the Pudong skyline are on, the windows offer breathtaking views over the scene of the river. The elegant interior and historical atmosphere are the perfect setting for guests to fully enjoy gourmet foods & great wines. What a life! C’est la vie!
