These professionals are not only well experienced in the hotel industry, but also willing to share with us their insights and understandings on the MICE industry.

MAG誌: The overall revenue of European’s MICE industry declined these years, while China saw the growth. What’s your opinions on this?

Mr. Haruhiko Fujino: According to the analysis by the tourism bureau, the outbound number is decreasing. But at the same time, the inbound number is growing. Affected by the subprime crisis, the trip allowance of European corporates are very limited. However, Chinese corporates are more focus on the quality of MICE. So I believe China is the very potential market and enjoys the consistently growing.

MAG誌: Dalian as the MICE destination, what’s the key competitiveness?

Mr. Haruhiko Fujino: The USP of Dalian is its developed tourism industry and perfect meeting infrastructure. Dalian Xinghai EXPO Square and the newly built Dalian International Conference Center make Dalian to be more capable of exhibitions.

MAG誌: Normally what kind of meeting packages will Hotel Nikko Dalian offer to the MICE clients? What’s your main consideration?

Mr. Haruhiko Fujino: We will try our best to offer the most comprehensive packages to avoid the trouble during the arrangement. When we making the meeting packages, we will think from the clients’ needs and satisfy their requirements.

MAG誌:近些年,欧洲整体MICE行业的收入下降,但同时中国的MICE行业却日显成熟,对此您有怎样的了解和看法?

藤野晴彦:通过旅游局数字,中国的出境人数在逐年减少;而与此同时,入境人数却在逐年增加。欧美公司在次贷危机之后,公司出差标准有所降低,很多奖励性会议都改在内部召开;而中国企业却更多地注重MICE的品质,考虑价格的因素相对少很多。我相信,中国市场是一个极具潜力和不断增长巨大市场,吸引了很多国外企业的目光,因此招来了很多国外MICE团队。

MAG誌: 大连作为MICE目的地而言,其最核心的竞争力在哪里?

藤野晴彦:个人认为大连作为MICE目的地的最核心竞争力在于大连旅游产业的相对发展成熟和会展基础设施的完善。大连的星海世博广场和新建成的大连国际会议中心都大大增加了大连的会展接待能力。

MAG誌:通常大连日航饭店会给到怎样的会议度假产品推荐给客户?在给客户制定会议度假产品的时候,出发点是什么?

藤野晴彦:我们会尽我们所能为客户提供最为全面综合的旅游产品,让客户可以免除MICE团队安排中的繁琐和复杂。在制定会议度假产品的时候,我们会站在客户的角度,从客户的需求出发,以最大限度满足客户需求,保证客户会议顺利进行为出发点。

Different from the MICE market in Dalian, Wuhan is more focus on auto industry, manufacturing industry and aviation industry. With the beginning of Wuhan “High-speed Rail era”, Wuhan’s MICE industry also changed a lot.

与大连的MICE市场不同,武汉的MICE客源更多来自汽车业、制造业及航空业。随之武汉“高铁时代”的到来,武汉的会展行业也发生了一定变化。

MAG誌: China now faces lots of policy problems, and the MICE industry also affected by the policy quite a lot. The percent of the government meetings declined in these two years. So what’s the main target for InterContinental Wuhan? And how will you achieve it?

Mr. Williams: The hotel industry has been always fluctuating through cycles, that’s why our clients are from various industries. When the government meeting declined, we looked for some emerging market and new business opportunities. Besides, we will customized the meeting packages for our clients. For example, we can make the menu and drink list according to the clients’ budget, and assist the client to hold the events successfully.

MAG誌: In China’s history, Wuhan is always one important city. So how will you present Wuhan to your client?

Mr. Willams: Wuhan is the hub of railways which develops rapidly. With the completion of International EXPO Center, the exhibition and conventions incresed quite a lot, which also drives the development of Wuhan’s economy.

MAG誌: As we know, your project including two hotels and one convention center, it seems one complex in the centre area. So what’s your strategy for winning the business? Especially the MICE aspect.

Mr. Willams: Opening in the 4th quarter of 2014, InterContinental Wuhan will feature 468 luxury guest rooms and suites with panoramic views of Wuhan, elegantly furnished with local designs and contemporary fittings. But the most distinctive characteristic of InterContinental Wuhan is our staffs’ “In The Know” experience, where they will share local tips and insider experiences with you to make your next trip to Wuhan memorable one.

MAG誌:中国现在面临的政策问题很多,会展业也受政策影响很大。近两年政府会议也呈百分比下降。因此,武汉洲际酒店的主要目标是什么?你又将如何实现呢?

Mr. Willams:酒店行业总会经历周期性的上下波动,因此我们的服务分布在各个方面。当某些企事业单位表现有所回落的时候,我们会转向一些新兴市场以及行业,发掘新的生意机会。除此以外,我们还会根据客户的喜好为其进行量身打造的服务和产品。个性化的服务对我们的员工提出更高的要求,并不断提升。同时,我们会根据市场的变化来调整我们的服务产品。例如,我们会根据客户的预算定制出符合需求的菜单与饮品,并协助客户一起完成符合需求及预算的完美宴会活动。

MAG誌:在中国历史上,武汉一直是一个重要的城市。那么你会如何向你的客户推介武汉?

Mr. Willams:从交通方面武汉的发展日新月异,四通八达,武汉“高铁时代”的到来,使武汉成为全国高速铁路枢纽城市。其次从经济发展及市场需求方面,随着国际博览中心在武汉的建成并投入运营,大型的会展活动日异增加,促进了武汉的经济发展及对会展酒店的需求也在日异增加,市场潜力日趋明显。

MAG誌:据了解,该项目包括四家酒店和一个会议中心,在汉阳中心区域,它似乎是一个综合的酒店群。能为我们简单介绍下吗?

Mr. Willams: 武汉洲际酒店是由洲际酒店和武汉国际会议中心两部分组成,武汉国际会议中心建筑面积约10万平方米,采用仿生学设计,形似贝壳,位于武汉国博新城的景观主轴上。2015年,洲际酒店集团旗下的顶级品牌酒店——武汉洲际酒店将迎来盛大开业。即将面市的武汉洲际酒店东临长江,是一座地下一层、地面二十一层的二维波浪形建筑物。酒店共有483间客房,奢华典雅,近阅长江波澜,引领智者风范!位于20层的玻璃“鸟巢”,无疑将会成为武汉城市星空中最璀璨的一颗“新”星。其另外三家酒店将于洲际酒店开业后陆续开业,同时这个项目还配备中部地区最大的室内海洋馆,购物中心,超高写字楼,它将是集购物,游乐,商务于一体的综合体,这意味着它将吸引更多大型MICE等商务会议活动在这里举办。

MAG誌: Even close to Beijing, the MICE industry in Tianjin is still not mature enough. What do you think of Tianjin’s MICE industry?

Roger: The MICE market need to be connected with the local industrial structure. Tianjin should take full advantage of its industrial strength and port resources.

MAG誌: The Convention Resort Hotel Group Society Hill including five hotels, one convention center and one hot spring. It is very competitive in China. Could you give us a brief introduction?

The Convention Resort Hotel Group Society Hill is located 600 meters away from South Tianjin Railway Station, and only 35km to Binhai International Airport, 30 minutes’ distance to Beijing by high-speed rail, and 20 minutes to the center of Tianjin by subway Line 3. MAG誌: China’s MICE industry affected by the policy quite a lot and the numbers of government meeting declined. How will Society Hill face it?

Roger: It’s not a challenge, but an opportunity. Society Hill will bring the ultimate meeting experiences with our professional team and flexible sales strategy.

MAG誌:天津虽然离北京较近,但MICE行业仍然处于较为不成熟的阶段。您认为,天津该如何定义它的MICE市场?

Roger:MICE市场的定义应该和当地的产业结构相关联起来。天津应该充分利用这几年积聚在工业上的实力,发挥行业的作用,走差异化路线。天津港口的优势,重工业优势都是可行的方向。
