As for winter, to most people in China, it’s a great time to celebrate the big Chinese festival with beloved ones. You can treat your family an awesome holiday somewhere or just stay home with friends to enjoy the get-togethers. To almost all the children, it’s not the festival that attracts them most in winter but the three-week vacation. However, these off-school days make children exhilarated but sometimes make parents exhausted. Parents don’t have time to decipline their kids during their working hours. Instead, they have to put their kids into some tutoring school from dawn to dust, which deprives the kids from having a real holiday. Is there a better way to help the parents? Well, why not think about sending the kids to winter-camping program?

There are lots of associations in the world which enjoy high reputation on the students camping program. These organizations provide students with opportunities to experience the exotic education, customs and cultures as well. These opportunities not only benefit the kids with their school studies back home. What’s more important, they gotta help enrich kids’ life experience, especially to those who expect to study or work abroad in the years to come. It’s well acknowledged that China is dominating the international education market. Students from the Chinese Mainland who study abroad far outnumber those from any other country. And they will continue to grow with greater mobility. To enable students from China to quickly adapt to a new culture, it’s a great choice to help them have an access to a foreign country by camping during vacations. Said by an American camping supervisor, organized camping is a “sustained experience that provides a creative, recreational, and educational opportunity in group living in the out-of-doors. It utilized trained leadership and the resources of natural surroundings to contribute to each camper’s mental, physical, social, and spiritual growth. ”

Take my nephew Jason as an example. He took part in a winter camping program in California, US last year. He spent 14 days apart from his parents playing and cooping with all his peers in a high school in California. After having courses like playing hockey, soccer and having training about equestrian, he even begged his parents to make a living in US and didn’t want to come back. “It’s a really fun program. Through sports, which are very important in the US, we get to know about sportsmanship and culture-wise, it’s a good way to start a conversation and make new friends”. It’d been a long time to get Jason interested in sports by the time the winter camping helped so. Sending kids to a camping program can often equip them with fluent English and multi-cultural backgrounds, which Chinese employers consider assets in their later years. So some think the earlier, the better.

Positive youth development is an interrelated process that involves all the influencers in a child’s life, working together to build children’s resilience to the stresses and challenges they encounter in the everyday world. The role of camps in this tapestry of experiences cannot be overstated.
